During the 49th Annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee commemorating “Bloody Sunday” in March 2014, S.O.S will kick off its yearlong campaign, “50 Cities/ 50 Cars / 50 Voters At A Time.” The campaign engages organizations in 50 cities to recruit 50 cars, whose drivers and passengers each recruit 50 voters, for “The Caravan for Democracy: From the State Houses to the White House.” The Caravan arrives March 12 in Washington, D.C., where participants and drivers from other cities will rally at the U.S. Capitol to demand that Congress fully restore the Voting Rights Act.
The D.C. rally also kicks off a yearlong voter education/ registration drive in all 50 states. S.O.S. and its partner organizations’ goal is to register at least ONE MILLION NEW VOTERS by the 50th Anniversary of the Bridge Crossing Jubilee and of the 1965 Voting Rights Act in 2015.
